Priyanka Chopra first achieved fame in India as a beauty queen when she won the Femina Miss India title, and then hit the international stage as the winner of the Miss World pageant in 2000. Her acting career proved successful almost from the beginning, as she won Filmfare's Best Female Debut and Star Screen's Most Promising Newcomer Award for her role in her second Bollywood feature, 2003's Andaaz. That film also earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination, as did her performance in 2004's Aitraaz, and Filmfare's choice as Best Villain of the Year. Unlike a good portion of Bollywood A-listers, Priyanka did not emerge from a family with links to the movie industry like Abhishek Bachan or Rani Mukherjee have. While she hasn't earned the title of No. 1 leading lady of Indian cinema, with major roles in blockbusters like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Don - The Chase Begins Again, her popularity quotient has approached that of starlets such as Aishwarya Rai and Karisma Kapoor. In 2006, she appeared opposite Hrithik Roshan in Krish, which went on to become one of the all-time top moneymakers in India.
