Kim Kardashian As the second daughter to high-powered Los Angeles lawyer Robert Kardashian and his wife, Kris Houghton, Kim Kardashian was immediately dropped into a comfortable California lifestyle that included posh living arrangements, a Catholic school, a sweet ride at 16, and a childhood friendship with another future socialite named Paris Hilton. In 1989, the marriage between Kim Kardashian's parents disintegrated and her family makeup changed considerably. Her mom became Kris Jenner, from a marriage to former Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner, and she gained a sizable set of step-siblings, fronted by Brody Jenner. The new family unit went the way of The Osbournes and become a pop culture favorite later on, but during her high school years, Kim Kardashian remained close with her father. Apart from his involvement in the trial of O.J. Simpson, he had become far more active in recent years in the music industry than in the field of law. As such, Kim Kardashian became gainfully employed at Movie Tunes, her father's business that was responsible for promoting musical artists. At 20, she married producer Damon Thomas, but the death of her father in 2003 sent Kim Kardashian on a new journey to find her own entrepreneurial talents. Kim Kardashian and her husband divorced in 2004, and her first attempt at self-employment came in the music video and commercial industry as a wardrobe stylist. Unfortunately, this venture was unsuccessful, so Kim Kardashian went back to the drawing board for her next professional makeover.
