There’s no telling what Kristen Stewart’s career would look like today had she not been cast as Bella Swan in the Twilight series. Sundance darling? Indie-romcom queen? Unfortunately, we’ll never find out, because she was cast as Bella and has become one of the biggest female stars on the planet by default. And with the two-part conclusion of the series due next year, don’t expect Stewart’s tabloid ubiquity or the rise of her bank account to slow down any time soon. And as long as she’s Bella Swan, we’ll have to endure her fake smooches with Robert Pattinson when they take the stage at the MTV Movie Awards to accept their trophy for best kiss, an award they’ve won two years running.
In fact, K-stew has swept pretty much every female award at all things MTV and Nickelodeon since the first film was released. It’s no wonder the actress has took on more serious fare as of late; her turn Joan Jett in The Runaways and her upcoming role in On the Road may just earn her the respect she craves.
